Tarek Abou Hamdan
Dr. Tarek Abou Hamdan is a consultant physician in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Interventional Endoscopy.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences in 2002 and his Medical Doctor (MD) degree in 2006 from the American University of Beirut.
Following that, he joined the internal medicine residency program at the American University of Beirut Medical Center and was recognized as a specialist in Internal Medicine in 2009. He then pursued fellowship training in Gastroenterology at the American University of Beirut Medical Center and was recognized as a specialist in this field in 2011.
Dr. Abou Hamdan has done clinical gastroenterology clerkships at College of Physicians and Surgeons in Columbia University, Saint Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, New York, USA and at Homerton University Hospital, London, UK in 2009.
In July 2011, he pursued advanced endoscopy hands on training at the Institute of Advanced Endoscopy where he was certified as a proficient in advanced Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).
He is an active member of the Lebanese Order of Physicians and the Lebanese Society of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Abou Hamdan is actively pursuing continuous medical education and has consistently attended medical meetings locally, in Europe and in the United States. He contributed to a number of research studies and book chapters.
He also treats functional gastrointestinal disorders, liver & pancreato-biliary disorders, gastrointestinal food allergy & intolerance, obesity, celiac disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, helicobacter pylori and inflammatory bowel disease.
